When you create an account, we store your username, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password itself). We also store the battles you create, the votes you cast, your ELO rating, comments you post, and basic usage data like which pages you visit.
If you use Rivalmash without an account (as a guest), we assign your browser a random device ID (stored in your browser's local storage) so we can remember your votes and ELO rating without an account. This is not linked to your real identity unless you later register.
We use this data to run the core features of Rivalmash: showing you battles, counting votes, calculating ELO, showing leaderboards, and letting you create battles and comment. We also use aggregate, anonymized usage data (like page views) to understand how people use the app and to improve it.
We use a small number of third-party services to run Rivalmash:
None of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own purposes — they only process it on our behalf to provide the service.
We don't use tracking/advertising cookies. We do use your browser's local storage to keep you logged in (an authentication token) and, for guests, to remember your device ID. Clearing your browser data will log you out and reset any guest progress.
You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, at any time by emailing a.natiq1988+rivalmash@gmail.com. We'll act on deletion requests within a reasonable time, except where we're required to keep certain records (e.g., to resolve an active copyright dispute).
Rivalmash is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
As Rivalmash grows, this policy may be updated. We'll change the "Last updated" date above when we do.
